The Tribe Team — Tribe Fitness

WIFE + MOM + BOSS

Hi, I’m Calli! It still feels weird to say I’m the owner of Tribe because I feel that Tribe is ours, not mine… but yes, I am the owner here at Tribe!

My love of movement began when I was just 3 years old and my Dad took me to ice skate for the first time. My skating era lasted over 15 years and brought me many joys, sorrows, and lessons. Injuries from skating lead me to physical therapy & for that I am grateful as this was my introduction to a really natural career path. I went to Central Penn College and received my associates degree in applied science for physical therapy assistant. I’ve been a licensed, practicing PTA for over 10 years now.

When my skating career came to a close, I felt lost not knowing what to do with myself. Going to the gym left me unfulfilled. I desperately wanted something that brought me the joy in movement that skating had for all those years.

My mom was taking Zumba at the time. I like to dance so I tagged along. It was fun & I needed direction. Enter my Zumba instructor era. This was a great start for me in leading group fitness and soon I was presented with the opportunity to instruct rhythmic indoor cycling. Despite literally never having been on an indoor bike, I said yes. Guys, I sucked. I couldn’t get it. I told the gal she was going to have to find someone else. With a lot of encouragement, I decided to stick it out and eventually entered my spin instructor era. Unfortunately, this particular endeavor was not the right fit for me so we parted ways.

At this point I was back to wondering what the heck to do with myself. I started working out more with my now husband who is into supplements. Out of the kindness of his heart he got me this supplement that was going to turn me into super woman or something (ladies we already are super woman, naturally) …I took it once & I was up for 36 hours. That night, while lying there wide awake, I dreamt up tribe. Ironic.

So, here I am 7 years into my entrepreneur era. I never took that supplement again. & Mike has never offered it to me again.

Nuri

What I love most about being part of the Tribe Team is just that, being part of a TEAM. We all come here to work hard and cheer each other on. The Instructors really care about providing a challenging but achievable work out, and they are exceptionally motivating.

I am a BeatBoss Basic certified cycle instructor. My classes are inspired by riding to the beat of the music and three biking styles, road, mountain and BMX for a cross training purpose. I want everyone to have fun, reach new heights, improve with each class and feel empowered.

I started exercising for the first time in my life when Studio 619, now Tribe Fitness, opened in 2018. I was sure Barre, Yoga and Cycle wasn't for me, however, after my first class Calli encouraged me to keep going and to not give up. I am so grateful for her advice and the guidance of all of the instructors and clients that have impacted my new healthy life. I want others to take advantage of all of the classes offered at Tribe Fitness. Life gets hard at times, working out helps because when your body and mind are strong, you will tackle life as a warrior!

Join us! You are welcomed to be surrounded by wonderful people in a positive environment.

Kenzie

McKenzie is a Harrisburg native who recently moved back to the area after spending 8 years in Pittsburgh. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for both her Bachelors and Masters degrees and currently works as a medical speech-language pathologist.

McKenzie grew up dancing and continued to perform throughout college. Ballet and tap were her favorite classes, and she still takes tap dancing classes. McKenzie took her first barre class in college and was immediately hooked. The mix of ballet, pilates, and dance was the perfect way to continue her love for ballet as an adult. She enjoys how deceivingly intense barre class is and how strong and powerful you feel after the workout.

In her free time, McKenzie enjoys taking other Tribe classes, spending time with family and friends, and gardening. She is trained in the Booty Barre method and certified in mat pilates. McKenzie is excited to be a part of the Tribe and share her love of barre with you!

Katelyn

Katelyn is a certified spin, barre and barre bounce instructor whose background in competitive figure skating has helped mold her teaching style at Tribe. You’ll never miss a beat in her classes, whether you’re spinning to Post Malone or bouncing it out to Beyonce. Staying active and being healthy are passions of Katelyn’s. After retiring from the intense lifestyle of a college athlete, it was hard to find a workout that yielded results without spending hours in the gym each day. Barre and Cycle were the solution to that problem, which is why Katelyn wants to share her experience with others. Her goal is to unleash the potential of her students and show them that the time spent at the studio is an investment in themselves and should never feel like a chore!

Katelyn is a Hershey local who resides in Hummelstown, PA with her boyfriend, Steve and dog Taz. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 2014 where she spent 4 years as a Varsity figure skater representing not only the University but also Team USA on the international stage. After graduation, her sales career with The Hershey Company took her to Denver and then Seattle. She now works out of headquarters in category analytics.

Outside of the studio Katelyn enjoys volunteering, judging skating competitions, hiking, drinking wine with friends and spending time with her family.

Kara

Kara took her first yoga class at a YMCA during a time when most people (herself included) knew very little if anything at all about yoga. 20 years later, she is pleased to see yoga has become so popular with many people now experiencing it’s benefits.  After completing a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training through Free Spirit Yoga, sharing yoga with others has felt like a natural progression in her life.

The word “yoga” is generally translated to mean something like “union” or “connection”. Kara believes the ways these words can be interpreted within the context of a yoga practice is unlimited and ultimately personal.

Yoga in a class with Kara offers opportunities to explore connections between the body, mind, and breath in order to encourage those practicing to make the choices necessary to find the yoga postures or movements right in that moment and feel confident enough to do this even if it means doing something someone else is not doing.  Mindful movement, breathing, and intentional choices are part of each class she offers. These elements are the focus of her own personal yoga practice. Kara believes that connections to and within the self bring the ability to see and feel more clearly the connections among all that surrounds us.
